In my last dispatch, I talked about the difference between your Brand vs Branding.
You may now wonder:
How does one go about branding oneself?
That’s where most people get stuck. How? Because they are afraid that what they want to say isn’t fully formed, researched, and most of all, not yet perfect.
On top of all that, the most significant stumbling block is:
What would they say about me?
And the close second one being:
I don’t want to offend people.
With all that hanging over your head, how does one go about branding oneself? Assuming that our intention of branding ourselves is to help others, there really is only one way to start.
The way to do it is to simply start talking about and writing about what we believe in, all the while knowing that our brand and our message will evolve as we ourselves evolve.
You may not be particularly surprised to hear this next bit, but no one is expecting perfection anywhere from anyone. And what about the people who may take offence at what we say or what we write? Well, there’s a saying about that, and I think we all know that we will never be able to please everyone. All we can do is thank them for their attention.
After all, getting anyone’s attention these days is precious indeed.
Now, tell me. What do you stand for?
