Better questions for personal branding

We often hear that asking a better set of questions is a way to improve the quality of our lives.

And I’d like to wager that the same is true when it comes to personal branding.

When I say better questions, I mean more specific ones that guide us to come up with definable and actionable answers that are not driven by fear.

Questions such as the following do not lead to coming up with definable answers, let alone actionable ones.

  • Who do you think you are?
  • What would they say about me?
  • What if they say no?
  • What if I get ridiculed?

I invite you to ask the following kinds of questions instead:

  • What do I stand for in my industry?
  • Whom am I here to serve?
  • What is my promise to those people I want to serve?

These are powerful branding and marketing questions driven by the desire to serve others.

You probably know, as do all of my clients, that just having logos, colour schemes and clever bylines are not enough for your branding. Real branding goes further than mere visuals and lip service. That’s how a brand connects with people, and that’s why it works.

Isn’t it about time we all started asking better questions to build a strong brand?
