What kind of signal are you sending out into the world?
If you’re wondering what I’m talking about, let me tell you that everyone is sending signals to everyone else by what they say, do and share online and offline.
Personal branding is, in fact, a more deliberate way of sending out your signal.
One thing I’ve noticed since I started serving more clients and becoming very visible in the marketplace is the fact that several photographers started following me and watching what I do. While this wasn’t something I saw coming, it did let me see how they are portraying themselves online, especially within their own websites.
One thing I notice quite often is this:
Their signal is weak.
What do I mean by that?
Most of them are trying to be all things to all people – a broad message appealing to no one.
Think about your own work and how strong your signal is. Are you trying to be all things to all people?
What if you narrow it down and make your signal stronger for the people you really want to serve?
