I received a question when I was talking to a business woman running a graphic design studio. Her existing audience / niche is in the music industry. Her business is growing, with more recent clients from outside the music industry, and she wondered if she needed professional branding photos.
There are two answers to this type of question.
YES – if you know the kind of people you want to work with. You’re very clear on who your work is for. If that is the case, you can be clear on how you want to be seen and show up.
NO – if you simply think you need some professional photos to look nice and you have some vague notion that it would be good for your new website.
My question back to you is to ask whether you’re ready to have your branding photos, because if you don’t know specifically (the more specific the better it is) who your work is for, it’s a waste of time and money to get any kind of photos done.
